All educational events and panels at the 2011 Twin Cities Film Fest will be held at the DoubleTree by Hilton Hotel – Park Place about one block from the ICON Theaters. School violence is a reality in schools across the country and has recently gotten a lot of attention here in Minnesota. The panel will include conversations about anti-bullying efforts in Minnesota. Some of the panelists include Lee Hirsch (Director of THE BULLY PROJECT), Tom Weber (MPR Reporter), Rep. Jim Davnie (MN State Legislator who co-sponsored anti-bullying legislation), Julie Hertzog (Director of PACER’s National Bullying Prevention Center) and Leigh Combs (Coordinator for the GLBT KIDS: Abuse Intervention program of The Family Partnership and a core member of the Minnesota School OUTreach Coalition)

10:30am-11:30am “Video Games as the Future of Visual Arts”
This year, the National Endowment of the Arts expanded the category of “Arts on Radio and Television” to “Arts in Media”. This means that web-based videos and “interactive games” are now considered art and worthy of potential grant money. So to discuss this topic and to add to TCFF’s Gaming Initiative Sidebar, we’ve assembled the best and brightest in Minnesota to talk about gaming as visual art. Panelists include Matt Helgeson, Game Informer Magazine, Tim May, VP of Production at Activision, Leif Knutson from Microsoft, Kurt Olson from Best Buy and Steve Snyder, TCFF Lead Programmer and Time Magazine Editor.
NOON – 1:00pm Film Spotlight – Actor, Anton Yelchin and Director, Drake Doremus, discuss their careers and the closing film, Like Crazy.
